Clinical Outcome in Human T-Lymphotropic Virus Type 2 Carriers Following Organ Transplantation

چکیده

Abstract Background Frequent and rapid development of myelopathy has been reported in individuals with human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) infection following solid organ transplantation. There is no information regarding HTLV-2, a closely related that often infects injection drug users. Methods This study includes retrospective analysis all consecutive transplants performed during the last 2 decades at large reference transplantation unit Spain. All participants were tested for anti-HTLV antibodies. Results A total 2019 HTLV period, including 663 potential donors 1356 recipient candidates. Twelve (0.59%) reactive on initial serologic screening, but only 6 (all recipients) confirmed as positive, HTLV-2. Two recipients underwent liver have remained asymptomatic despite being tacrolimus 4 8 years, respectively. Likewise, remaining HTLV-2 carriers not developed clinical complications potentially associated Conclusions Unlike HTLV-1 infection, setting does seem to be neurologic complications, Given cross-seroreactivity between discriminatory tests are urgently needed would reduce unnecessary discharge.

Frequency of Human T-Cell Lymphotropic Virus (HTLV) Type 1 and 2 Infection in HIV Infected Patients

Background and Objectives: Human T-cell lymphotropic viruses (HTLV) type 1 and 2 are retroviruses that share the same routes of transmission as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). As a consequence of epidemiologic similarities, HIV and HTLV-1/2 co-infection is frequent. Due to the limited data, this study assessed the seroprevalence of HTLV-1/2 infections in HIV infected patients in Tehran, Ira...

Evaluating the Frequency of Human T-Lymphotropic Virus Type 1 Infection in Iranian Population

Background: Human T-cell lymphotropic viruses 1 (HTLV1) is endemic in specific regions. We aimed to determine the prevalence of HTLV I infection among blood donors in southeast Iran.   Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between April 2005 and March 2015. Sera were collected from blood donors and were tested for the presence of HTLV1 specific antibody using ELISA. Reactive sample...

Seronegative virus carriers in the infection of rabbits with human T lymphotropic virus type I

Six HTLV-I-transformed T cell lines were prepared from PBL of three rabbits each of B/J and Chbb:HM strains, and were inoculated into newborn rabbits of these two strains, and of their F1 hybrid. None of three B/J cell lines induced anti-HTLV-I antibody response in newborn B/J rabbits, whereas all three Chbb:HM cell lines did induce a response in newborn Chbb:HM rabbits. These B/J cell lines ho...

Semiquantitative analysis of integrated genomes of human T-lymphotropic virus type I in asymptomatic virus carriers.

A semiquantitative estimation of human T-lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I) integration by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) was performed. Genomic DNA samples derived from 134 HTLV-I carriers were subjected to 40 or 60 cycles of the polymerase chain reaction to amplify the pol region of HTLV-I. The HTLV-I genome was detected by dot hybridization using a 32P-labeled oligonucleotide prob...
